MARKEN, NETHERLANDS: Last week I went shopping for traditional Dutch wooden shoes. Whilst there I also asked if they sold wooden socks. The answer was obviously no, but a few days after my visit to the Klompen museum, I got a message from Agent 47, the wood carving artist who sold me my shoes. He said he was working on a pair of wooden socks and that the prototype would be ready any day now. Elated at the prospect of getting my feet on the world's first ever pair of wooden socks, I travelled back to the village of Marken with my Federal Reserves locked and loaded lest I lose out in a bidding-war for these collector's edition authentic Dutch wooden socks!
